It all begins with an idea (in the middle of the night!)
What we do:
We metallize rare earth (RE) oxides into pure metals using hydrogen cold-plasma reduction. Our process is cost-efficient, clean, modular, and enables U.S. domestic supply of high-performance rare earth metals essential for EV motors, wind turbines, and defense systems.
Why this matters:
The United States currently has no industrial-scale rare earth metallization capacity. Permanent magnets power the electrified world, but nearly all RE metals are imported from China. Metallization is the bottleneck. We solve it.
How it works:
MxOy + 2yH* → xM + yH2O
“Metal + hydrogen radical reacts to form metal + water”
Hydrogen radical (H*) reduces rare earth oxides at 500-1000°C. Only byproduct is water. Scalable modular reactor design.
Who it impacts:
Global RE magnet market: $19B (2025) → $40B (2030) U.S. demand: $4B → $9B, but zero domestic supply of RE metal.
Uses: EVs, robotics, power generation, defense, aerospace, medical, data centers
How we make money:
Sell metal output & secure multi-year offtake agreements. Co-location with mines or magnet factories. Pilot to production scaling driven by modular reactors.
What we have done:
Proof-of-concept hydrogen plasma reactor built. Demonstrated partial RE oxide reduction in <10 seconds. Pre-seed now to demonstrate full metallization in the prototype reactor.
Who we are:
Zach Detweiler, PhD: Founder & CEO (scaled metal AM into aerospace & defense)
Dan Bullard, PhD, MBA: Founder & CTO (plasma metallurgy + metals process scale-up)
What we are looking for:
Pre-Seed: $600k to demonstrate metallization in prototype reactor and develop strategic offtake.
